TEAM NEWS FROM COLNEY

Posted on: Mon 12 Jan 2009

CITY boss Glenn Roeder told reporters this morning Antoine Sibierski looks to have played his last match for City.

Sibierski sustained a twist and severe bruising to his ankle in Saturday's 1-0 defeat to Sheffield United at Bramall Lane and was stretchered off around the hour mark. The Frenchman is set to be out of action for at least a month, with his loan deal set to expire next Saturday (January 19), when he will return to Premiership side Wigan Athletic.

City boss Glenn Roeder told canaries.co.uk: "That would be his last game for us. We think the injury will have taken a minimum of a month, it could be longer and he's got quite severe bruising on his ankle which he twisted badly. As far as I'm concerned he'll go back to Wigan and we'll see what happens there after. He certainly wouldn't have been in our plans for four or five weeks anyway."

"I've got huge respect for Antoine, he did a great job for me at Newcastle in the season he had there, and he always gives his all. He acts like a professional should act, and we could have really done with him around the place over these next couple of games."

Also unavailable for Tuesday's FA Cup replay at Carrow Road against Charlton Athletic is on loan defender Jonathan Grounds.

Grounds was signed from Middlesbrough after the original fixture against the Addicks at The Valley and is therefore not eligible to play in the replay.

Returning to the fold are midfielders Darel Russell and Matty Pattison. Russell returns after serving his one-match ban at Bramall Lane for collecting five bookings and Pattison has recovered from a dead leg.

On the South African midfielder, Roeder commented: "I've been over cautious with Matty, he could have been on the bench on Saturday but I didn't want to take a chance because of the three dead legs we had last week, his was the worst."

Tickets are available for the FA Cup third round replay against Charlton Athletic, priced at £15 for adults, £10 for senior citizens and under 21s and just £1 for under 16s.
