I'M VERY PROUD - GUNN
AFTER the Canaries took all three points in their 4-0 victory over visiting Barnsley, Bryan Gunn said they owed the result to their evident passion and commitment out on the pitch.
Gunn took control of today's match with the Tykes at Carrow Road after Glenn Roeder parted company with the Club on Wednesday. Speaking after the game, Gunn said it had been the perfect end to a busy time.
He said: "It's been an emotional week, and quite dramatic in many ways as well. It was up to the players to react to the situation and they played with the passion and commitment we asked of them.
"I'm very proud to be part of the 4-0 victory but I think the players and the backroom staff have to take the credit for lifting the sprits and making the place happier after a difficult week."
An eventful second half saw the Canaries smash four goals past the powerless Tyke's 'keeper. On the team's efforts, Gunn commented: "That's the type of talent that Wes has got and that's why he was brought to the Club, and it's also why a number of other clubs were interested in him as well.
"Jamie Cureton came back and I just kept telling him to keep running in behind and he kept percervering and when he got his chance, it was magical to see it go and hit the back of the net. It was a sensible move to bring Jamie back from his loan, he's under contract here and our squad is fairly thin on the ground.
"He's got a bubbly character and he's the type of player the fans love, he went to Barnsley and scored a few goals there so hopefully he'll continue to improve his goal tally."
Asked for his feelings about taking the reins against Barnsley, he replied: "It was a different experience standing out there today and talking in front of the cameras at the press conference at Colney yesterday. It was different standing up in front of the dressing room talking to the players. There were fourteen heroes out there today and it was a great feeling to get the result we did.
"It's hard to describe the feelings that I have at the moment, but obviously I'm very proud of being a servant of Norwich City for such a long time. The main thing was the passion the players showed out on the pitch today, it's massive and it's something they've set a standard for now. Hopefully they can come back against Southampton and show the same sort of passion against them."
