MIDFIELDER Wes Hoolahan finally fulfilled his objective of scoring his first goal in a Canary shirt since joining the Club last summer.

In a dramatic second half at Carrow Road, the Irishman opened the scoring in a match which saw City run out 4-0 winners over Barnsley at Carrow Road. Hoolahan told canaries.co.uk he was delighted to finally get his name on the score sheet.

"It's strange what a couple of days can do, there's such a difference. The crowd were fantastic today from the word go, and we got the first goal which we've struggled to get in recent games. I think if you get the first goal you can usually go on to get a few more.

"It feels good to finally get on to the score sheet, I've been here a few months now and it feels great to finally get my first for Norwich. Gunny told me to get on the ball, put a bit of pressure on and just go for it. It's part of my game, I like just getting on the ball and running around and bringing other people into play, and creating chances."

Reflecting on the team's success, Hoolahan told canaries.co.uk he hoped whoever was brought in to fill the vacant manager's position could help them climb higher in the table.

"It was a great win, I've looked at a few of the results and it seems things have gone our way. Hopefully now we can beat Southampton when they come here and we can move back up the table.

"Any manager knows that the Championship is a tough league and hopefully whoever comes in can help us get back up the division. Gunny did a great job today and we got a great result."
