CORT DELIGHTED WITH STRIKE
STRIKER Carl Cort says he is delighted to have scored his first goal for City and the Canaries' second in their six-goal thriller at Molineux.
His 48th minute strike was his first league goal since coincidently scoring for last night's hosts Wolves back in March 2006, and the 31-year-old shared his delight with canaries.co.uk: "It was fantastic to come back here and get a goal. It's been a long time and I tried to hold the celebration in but I couldn't because it's been so long. I was delighted to score my goal and it was nice to finish it off."
In only his second start for the Canaries since joining at the beginning of December, Cort said he was growing in fitness and confidence: "I'm feeling better each day in training and the gaffer's given me the opportunity to start the game today to show what I can do. As the game went on, especially after I got the goal, I felt more confident."
Although pleased with the team's recent performances, Cort feels there is still room for improvement if the Canaries are to push away from the Championship relegation zone: "We've showed a lot of heart and fight over the last few weeks and that's what we're going to need to get out of the position we're in. We're looking at it as three points thrown away because we made mistakes, if you look at the goals we've conceded recently it could be said it's due to lack of concentration. To score three goals away from home and still not get all three points, it's disappointing.
"There's no doubt we've got work to do in all areas on the field but with the 15 games we have left, we have to stick together and get results. We don't want to keep getting in to the situation where we have to fight our way back, but the way the game went today we had to dig in and show our heart."
