THE 78th minute of this weekend's 1-1 draw with Burnley is a moment which will stay with City youngster Luke Daley for a very long time.
The Academy striker came on for Jamie Cureton, who had earlier given Norwich the lead when he scored in the 20th minute. With questions put to Daley asking how it felt to make the breakthrough into the first team, he told First News he was over the moon when he learned he was in contention for the Clarets clash.
"It was really good and I was very excited," he commented. "I only found out today when I came in that I'd be on the bench and that was fantastic enough. Just making the bench was enough but as soon as I got told to go and warm up, it made me feel really good.
"When the team list went up, I saw my name in the subs so I got really excited then, and I was quite surprised. I didn't have any indication I'd be on the bench so I didn't get any calls out to my family to let them know in time. This is really going to push me on now so I need to keep working hard."
With his obvious pleasure at breaking into the City line up, Daley told canaries.co.uk although there had been initial butterflies, knowledge passed down from experienced first team players soon helped him settle in to the job: "I was a little bit nervous but I managed to stay calm, and I got some good advice from others on the bench. Curo told me to do what I normally do, keep calm and overall have a good game.
"I've got to keep on going now, working really hard and keep making sure I get into the squad. Then I have to ensure I get on to the bench and keep progressing from there. We've got a good team here, and I believe we can do well so we need to keep playing and taking each game as it comes. We know what we're capable of doing and we need to look forward to a win next weekend."
