LEE READY FOR 'MASSIVE' MONTH AHEAD

Posted on: Thu 02 Apr 2009

ON-LOAN striker Alan Lee has told canaries.co.uk the recent international break has enabled him to gel further with the City squad and take full advantage of working on improving his fitness.

Lee made his first appearance for Norwich away at St Andrews, and now hopes to make his home debut against Sheffield Wednesday this weekend. Reflecting on the recent break from match action, the 30-year-old said it had been a positive.

"I think for the team, maybe we would have liked a game on Saturday but for me personally I've had more time to bed in and do some extra fitness work. I can't say I see it as too much of a negative, and we're just looking forward to Saturday.

"We did some fitness work on Tuesday and then had a couple of days off but I came in on the Friday to keep ticking over. I just feel sharp, it's been refreshing for me coming back here to East Anglia. I'm really happy at the moment, and I know the lads are comfortable with me so we don't have a problem."

This weekend's clash with Brian Laws' side sees the start of the concluding month of the Canaries' 2008-09 campaign. Asked by reporters about the significance of the month ahead, Lee answered: "It's massive, It's a huge month and it's big for all the players and our careers - it's times like this when the personalities come out and you get to see what people are made of.

"So far from what I've seen, the reactions have been great and there's some strong lads here. I get the impression there are some teams which are playing quite nervy football, and sometimes if you're in an inexperienced team that can happen - mentally you need to stay strong, play how you believe you can and have the guts to go and get the ball. I don't think we're in that bad a position, and a win on Saturday will really help our chances."

Confirming he was happy to spend the rest of the campaign on loan at Carrow Road, the frontman continued: "I played against Norwich earlier in the season and I knew it was a good footballing side, and at Birmingham I was very impressed with the lads fighting spirit and attitude.

"I knew some of the lads, they're all good characters and it's a time for that and the lads have stepped up to the plate. This league, I've seen all sorts of funny results and you have to give so much respect to all teams - the Sheffield Wednesday manager will want to win it for their club. Norwich is a fantastic club, I really can't wait to get out on that pitch and touch wood, I'm selected this weekend."
