AS City get set to take on Swansea this Saturday, Gary Doherty says the Easter weekend provides a vital opportunity for the Canaries to earn six precious points.
After Norwich lost out to visiting Sheffield Wednesday at Carrow Road last weekend, the City skipper told canaries.co.uk just how significant these next two games were for Bryan Gunn's side.
He said: "It's massive. It can swing your season right round and make it a comfortable finish or a real nail-biter. If we can get four to six points, it would be a great return over Easter and that's what we're looking for. You can't underestimate it, they're two massive games and two games we're looking forward to."
On the effect City's loss to the Owls had had, Doherty added: "I think a defeat can always set your confidence back but to be honest we didn't play too greatly but we still thought we should have got a point - it's obviously bitterly disappointing we didn't get anything and we've now put a lot of pressure on ourselves for these two games coming up."
With questions put to the defender by reporters at a pre-match press conference, he said this Saturday's Welsh opponents would undoubtedly give as good as they got: "It's going to be a massive effort, we're going to have to close it down really well because they'll just pop the ball round you.
"They're probably the best passing side in this league but we're quietly confident, we know we've got some good passers of the ball as well and it should be a decent game. You don't want people to go there and shink because they're a couple of big games, you want to go there and enjoy the atmosphere - we're under a lot of pressure but hopefully that will bring the best out of our players. We need a performance like at QPR and Birmingham, we need one of those which can get us the points."
Asked what part he felt his role of captain would play in this weekend's events, the 29-year-old commented: "I think the main thing is keeping the lads on a high, because after a defeat you are a bit down in the dumps.
"The attitudes been good in training and we're all looking forward to it, and we all know how big this weekend's going to be. It can really dig you out of it if you get a couple of good results, and that's what we're aiming for."
