"Its embarrassing."

21.40 - And it's all over. City's Championship status is hanging by the thinnest of threads following their ninth league home defeat - a stat which in itself speaks in volumes. The Canaries must now beat Charlton and hope Barnsley slip up at now-safe Plymouth. Thanks for your support - and sorry to anyone who feels I've censored anti-board sentiment on here tonight, I have tried not to.

"We dont deserve to stay up - rubbish board, rubbish management, rubbish team and rubbish fans for accepting it. Prudence with ambition? What a joke!"
jarabe
21.37 - This is painful to watch as City huff and puff but lack penetration and creativity in the last third against a supremely confident Reading side.

"i'm off on holiday to Turkey next sunday and i don't want to start it off with a relegation to league 1 lets hope we can pull out all the stops againts charlton and lady luck is on our side next week."
panomania

"For a change. Too much ****, too little pride at all levels in the club."
jarabe
21.34 - If only City had 11 Cody McDonalds out there tonight - he has continued fighting and scrapping for every ball throughout.

"Funny how anti-Board posts seem to be disappearing tonight. The truth hurts hey?"
jarabe

"Total and utter uncommited ****!!! SACK THE BOARD!!!"
IMT
21.30 - Reading are fully in control now as they see the game out. The hard truth ovf the matter is that Hahnemann has not been tested enough in this game and particularly in the second half.

"league 1 here we come! we are going down say we are going down!"
panomania

"Oh dear - what can we do?
We have no answer to this sort of quality- were a poor team, with poor players,in a poor league, owned by poor directors and managed by a poor management team.
We are going down where we belong."

"Was at the dentists an hour before the game. If he'd whipped a couple out without anaesthetic it couldn't have been more painful than listening to this."

21.24 - Matejovsky is booked for a foul on Lee.
21.23 - Shackell has been replaced by Adrian Leijer.
21.22 - A devastating blow as Reading double their lead with a carbon copy of their first goal. Again Kebe crosses - and again Shane Long heads past the despairing dive of Marshall. 2-0 to Reading. Alan Lee is booked in the next attack for City.

"Need subs - too many players not performing. Daley for Carney, Cureton for Gow. Nothing to lose."
jarabe
21.18 - It proves to be Carney's last involvement as youngster Luke Daley comes on to replace the Australian.
21.17 - Brilliant work by McDonald to win a corner...but Carney wastes it with a woeful flag-kick.
21.16 - The Carrow Road crowd is doing its best to rally after that hammer blow, but it's a tough ask. They have been tremendous though as always. Can City respond?

"oh crumbs! 2 goals to find! how can we break the strong defence of reading!"
panomania

21.12 - Disaster. Reading takes the lead as Jimmy Kebe whips in a superb cross from the left and it falls to the unmarked Shane Long who has lost his marker and powers home the simplest of headers from close range.
21.11 - Carney crosses towards the back stick and Hahnemann can only help it on with an outstreched hand - but it's enough to make the header too difficult for Lee at the far post and he heads wide as he falls over.
21.09 - The Canaries play their way into trouble with a succession of poor passes and Shane Long nearly capitalises as he races down the right before blazing over from a tight angle.
21.06 - Reading make their second substitution as Cisse goes off to be replaced by Matejovsky.

"i can't seen any goals coming!"
panomania
21.04 - Carney gets a talking-to for an innocuous-looking challenge on Dan Harding. Referee Clive Oliver's hopes of being awarded the freedom of the city of Noriwhc have not improved so far this evening.
21.03 - Hunt takes a free-kick wide right - Clingan heads away well.
21.02 - Otsemebor is forced to head behind under pressure from Kebe. From the resulting corner a superb and brave block from McDonald stops Karacan in his tracks. Reading are enjoying a good spell here.
20.57 - Tonight's crowd is confirmed as 25,041.
20.55 - Cisse is in the thick of the action again as a superb first-time ball from Clingan sends Cody McDonald sprinting in to the danger area hot on the heels of the Reading defender. As the two tussle for the ball Cisse goes down like a sack of spuds - and from some distance away the referee decides he was fouled. Cue uproar from the Carrow Road faithful.
20.54 - Kalifa Cisse is booked for a late lunging challenge on Darel Russell.
20.52 - This reporter is half out of his seat as a curled effort from Alan Gow drops just over the angle of bar and post.

"ok ill be happy with a scappy 1-0 second half to us of cause!"
panomania
20.49 - Here we go for 45 minutes of destiny as Norwich kick off the second half attacking the N&P Stand. Come on City!

"Not a bad performance - but not good enough to win the game at the moment.
We need to step up the tempo and show a little more quality all over.
Shackell and Cody have been the pick IMO - defence has generally been ok!
Lets psyche them up and get some goals in the second half.
Off for a pit stop - back soon!
goals"
hrsthenwc

"Go Cody - it took 5 to stop him!!!"
hrsthenwc
20.35 - And the half-time whistle has gone. City looked the more likely but the scoreline remains 0-0.

"Carney and Gow have done very little - need to swop wings to do anything. Russell and Clingan need to step up too. Too many passengers at the moment."
jarabe

"definitely - Shacks is immense at the mo!! Carney and Gow have been ok as well."
hrsthenwc

"shacks is strong in defence cody is strong up front now just the other 9 players on the pitch need to step up a gear"
panomania
20.29 - Superb effort from Clingan as he latches on to a weak defensive header to send a fierce 25-yard half-volley just wide of Hahnemann's right-hand post.
20.28 - As Gow's brilliant run is checked just as he threatened to break free Reading respond with the game's first substitution, Stephen Hunt replacing Glen Little.
20.26 - David Carney picks up the ball on the right after good work by Ryan Bertrand but his low cross towards Lee is deflected off a defender into the arms of Hahnemann.
20.23 - A scandalous decision Sarmell...Boca who?? ;O)

"Hi Jo, Italian Canaries here.
Shame that Italian Channel Sport Italia had announced to broadcast the game live, but at the last moment they changed idea and they opted for Boca Juniors / Rosario Central!!!!
Great delusion.
But we gathered all together and we'll follow the efforts of the Canaries minute by minute on Your Shout.... "
sarmell
20.19 - Oooooh! A good spell of City pressure ends with David Carney unleashing a 30-yard drive which just clears the cross bar and the fingertips of Hahnemann at full stretch.
20.17 - McDonald is chasing everything here - he's forced Hahnemann into a couple of rushed clearances. When Lee heads Otsemobor's cross back into th danger area the youngster tries an overhead shot which is an easy claim for the Reading stopper.

"cody is on fire he sure is putting the reading defence to test! come on sammy put it in the back of the net oooooooooo just short"
panomania

"Marshall's twitchy - his last home game?"
hrsthenwc
20.09 - Sammy Clingan hits the resulting free-kick a foot wide of the near post causing the side-netting to ripple. This in turn sparks a brief wild celebration from fans on the far side in the Jarrold Stand who thought it had gone in.
20.08 - Liam Rosenior can count himself lucky to still be on the pitch. He comes sliding in with a clumsy late challenge to send McDonald crashing to the turf a couple of yards outside the box. Referee Clive Oliver decides a yellow card is sufficient punishment.
20.05 - Darel Russell gets a talking-to after a crunching tackle on Karacan leaves the Reading player requiring treatment.
20.04 - You're quite right Jarabe. "Really massive"...

"Massive" doesnt do it justice. You need to expand your vocabulary...
jarabe

"ahhh Mr Ferrari you really are getting later and later. Gareth need to tie you to your chair. Well at least i can watch the game live on sky :) Well this is it the last home game of the season and only a win will do. we can't let it go down to the last game of the season! I'm going for a 2-1 win to the city. cody to score both"
panomania
19.58 - Kebe's cut-back is laid back into the path of Shane Long but his rifled effort is denied by a sliding block from Shackell. Great defending.
19.54 - David Marshall takes far too long to make a clearance and his kick is charged down by Long. Luckily for him and Norwich, the City defence scrambles back to eventually clear the danger. At the other end a City attack ends with Darel Russell doing well to keep a half-volley down but the shot is straight at Hahnemann in the Reading goal.
19.52 - City starting to get their foot on the ball after a spell of Reading possession.
19.50 - A scrappy start here but a cracking atmosphere. A chant of 'he's got no hair but we don't care' is taken up by all four stands.
19.46 - Thanks to Kim Betts for holding the fort there while I looked after the media scrum on the pitch. You're back with me Joe Ferrari as Reading get ready to kick the game off...and we're away!
19:44 - As the team's are read out, Cody McDonald makes his first start for the Canaries.
19:42 - U2 sing 'It's a beautiful day' - Let's hope so. And the teams are out, surrounded by a sea of yellow and green cards being held up by a packed house at Carrow Road. Canary fans' chants of On the Ball completely drown out those Royals' fans - let's keep that up and give the boys 100 per cent backing. Come on you Yellows!!!
19:34 - The winner is Ian Ketteringham - the 21 year old has been a lifelong fan and season ticket holder at Norwich City Football Club. He has carried on renewing his season ticket despite losing his sight due to a genetic condition. When asked why he remains so loyal, he told us that the atmosphere keeps him coming along.
19:33 - Another award now, this time for the Aviva Fan of the Year. To be announced any minute now....
19.30 - And the winner is.... Leeeeeeeeeeee Crofffftttttttt!! Crofty's done it, and despite his current injury no one can deny this City favourite's run himself into the ground on a number of occasions this year. Plus, he scored against Ipswich at Carrow Road earlier in the season - superb!
19.29 - Northern Irish international Sammy Clingan comes second.... the crowd are obviously delighted for the midfielder.
19.27 - 59'er Terry Allcock comes on to the pitch, ready to hand out the awards, along with Norwich Chairman Roger Munby. City skipper Gary Doherty runs over from his warm up and is awarded third prize.
19.24 - The Anglian Player of the Season will be announced in a few minutes time - in reverse order third, second and first prizes will be awarded to players voted for by Canary fans.
19.06 - An early hello from Carrow Road for tonight's make or break battle against the Royals of Reading. Tonight the Canaries face certainly their biggest match since Fulham relegated them from the Premiership in 2005 - and arguably the biggest in 50 years, since that is the length of time which has elapsed since Carrow Road last hosted third-tier football.
We've all been frantically doing the maths for weeks now - but after Saturday's games the equation has become simpler. Tonight's match is City's game in hand on Barnsley, Plymouth and Watford. If Norwich win, then they will go into their last game at Charlton next Sunday knowing that bettering or matching Barnsley's result - they play at Plymouth - will ensure Championship football in the city of Norwich next season.
Lose or draw tonight and the Canaries will be living on a wing and a prayer come next weekend's league climax. They would find themselves needing to win at Charlton and hope a Plymouth side at that point safe from the drop beats Barnsley.
Meanwhile Birmingham's shock 2-1 defeat at home to Preston on Saturday means Reading come here with a real incentive to win themselves. Instead of a secure play-off spot and not much else to play for in their remaining two regulation season games - now they are here knowing that victory tonight followed by a win over Birmingham on Sunday could propel them into the Premiership without the need to go through the lottery of the play-offs.
City boss Bryan Gunn has made two changes to his starting line-up from last Sunday's local derby defeat at Ipswich, with Cody McDonald coming in for his first start to replace the ineligible David Mooney and David Carney replacing the injured Lee Croft on the wing.
