CITY majority shareholders Delia Smith and Michael Wynn Jones spoke to First News after watching the Canaries get relegated at Charlton.

Delia commented: "After Monday I couldn't see a real miracle and I was already anticipating what might happen. I thought it might have been a bit better than it was today, it wasn't very good at all.

"The tables don't lie and that's where we are, and all I can say is we have to make the very best of it and do all we can to get back on track.

Asked if she felt particularly disappointed by the performance by the Canaries at Charlton, she replied "I feel let down but I also knew the pressure that was on today, and to have the nerve to deal with it is quite difficult. I'm sure Barnsley felt the same - it's very difficult when you have all that pressure on you, and we had worse pressure. They had to lose and we had to win, and I think it showed.

"I feel most sorry for the fans. They deserved better than that today.

"I'm just hoping we can get a team next year with a few more Cody McDonalds in it, who are playing their socks off and wanting to play for Norwich."

Michael Wynn Jones commented: "At one point, it had Fulham written all over it. The Board is meeting this week and we're going to look at the situation and see what needs to be done.

"We'll see where we can find the funds, and we'll go into the summer with a strategy which is suited to our circumstances and we'll do the best we possibly we can to return to the Championship as fast as we can.

"We can't go on in this fashion as we're finding out."
