MARIC ON THE MARK AS CITY WIN
BRYAN Gunn's Canaries made it two wins from two games on their tour of Scotland, with a 1-0 win over St Johnstone at St Andrews University this afternoon.
City handed starts to triallists Jens Berthel Askou, Paul McVeigh and Michael Bridges.
Triallist Bridges was the first to have an attempt on goal, the former Sunderland man shielded the ball well before turning and shooting fractionally wide of the target.
On six minutes, Declan Rudd was called into action to turn away a shot for the game's first corner. City were next on the attack as a good run by Cody McDonald saw him skip round his man and pull the ball back to Paul McVeigh who in turn picked out his former Luton colleague Chris Martin at the back post - only for his header to be easily gathered by the St Johnstone 'keeper.
Norwich were forced into an early change when McDonald limped off to be replaced by Goran Maric on 18 minutes.
City had a strong penalty appeal turned away by referee Kevin Graham, when Maric appeared to be shoved in the back when trying to meet a Bridges cross.

Rudd had to be at his best to push away what looked to be a certain goal, from a St Johnstone corner the City 'keeper leaped to his right to claw away a powerful header.
Norwich took the lead on 28 minutes when Maric latched on to a clever through ball, springing the offside trap and sliding the ball under the advancing 'keeper.
St Johnstone were soon in search of an equaliser and saw a header clip the bar on 34 minutes.
The Canaries really should have made it 2-0 when Martin cushion-headed the ball into Bridges' path, but the triallist fired wide from close range.
On the stroke of half-time, Martin tested the 'keeper with a stinging shot.
Half-time: St Johnstone 0 Norwich City 1

The second half started with an interesting onlooker in the shape of former City assistant manager Jim Duffy, currently manager of Brechin City.
Norwich were the first to create a clear second half opening when on 50 minutes, Martin picked out McVeigh in the box. But for once, the Northern Irishman's touch let him down and allowed a St Johnstone defender to clear the danger.
Bryan Gunn made an early second half change when Dario Dumic replaced Jon Otsemobor on 52 minutes.
Martin again came close to extending the Canaries' lead when he met a deep cross at the far post with a first-time volley which the 'keeper blocked with his legs.
City continued to search for a second goal, and it almost came when the clever Tom Adeyemi rolled a delicate ball into the path of Maric - but with the Serbian about to pull the trigger, a defender intervened.
A third City change came on 70 minutes when Chris Craig replaced fellow triallist Michael Bridges.
St Johnstone almost fashioned an equaliser when a free-kick from the edge of the area shaved Rudd's left-hand post.
With ten minutes remaining, Norwich triallist Maric earned himself a lecture from the referee after a heavy challenge on a St Johnstone defender.
Maric had the ball in the net in the game's closing minutes, but saw his effort chalked off, with the assistant on the far side ruling the ball had gone out before Martin crossed for the Serbian to header home.
Full-time: St Johnstone 0 Norwich City 1
Canary boss Bryan Gunn was more than happy with his side's efforts this afternoon. He told First news: "I'm very pleased, and certainly very pleased with the attitude of the players and the commitment they've shown today.
"It was hard, and pre-season is hard. I thought that everyone who played and took part in the game got something out of it - and that's the main thing. We got a few bumps and knocks but nothing too serious - and hopefully, we'll get them out on the training pitch recovered and ready for Saturday's game at Airdrie."
