WITH the new football season fast approaching, Team RAC drivers Colin Turkington and Stephen Jelley paid a visit to the Colney training ground ahead of the Snetterton round of the HiQ MSA British Touring Car Championship on Sunday, August 2.
Turkington and Jelley met Norwich City's Owain Tudur Jones, Chris Martin, Michael Nelson and Matt Gill as City prepare for the season. Team RAC are looking to continue their fantastic form in the 2009 BTCC season with Turkington currently leading the driver standings with 149 points at the mid-way point of their season, whilst team-mate Stephen Jelley is in seventh with 69 points.
Both RAC drivers along with Team RAC's BMW 320si visited Colney last week and watched the Canaries as they prepared for the Manchester United XI friendly. Colin Turkington said: "It was a great experience to meet the Norwich City players. They are definitely sporting role models and it was great speaking to them about the similar skills required to be a footballer and racing driver. It was a really enjoyable day and I'll be looking out for Norwich City's progress for the season ahead."
Talking about the BTCC, Turkington added: "I'm delighted with my season so far. It was fantastic going into the break leading the Driver's Championship and is real testament to Team RAC, who have worked hard to give me a great car.
