CITY boss Bryan Gunn this morning confirmed that defender Michael Nelson was discharged from hospital last night and travelled back to Norwich with his team-mates following the 1-0 win over Crystal Palace.

The summer signing from Hartlepool suffered a nasty-looking head injury when he challenged for a header with Palace's Jose Fonte in the second half of yesterday's pre-season friendly at Selhurst Park.

Gunn told First News: "Manny Fowler (kit man) went with Michael to the hospital last night and we were able to pick them both up and bring them back to Norfolk on the team coach last night.

"In fact Michael still had kit on when the doctors discharged him and he travelled home wearing his kit! He was badly concussed but we are delighted that he's been given the all-clear.

"He was very well looked after by our medical staff and the staff at Palace too, who were all quick on the scene to help out. With the help of Club doctor Peter Harvey, we'll just have to keep a close eye on him for the next few days."
