KICK-OFF WITH THE CANARIES

Posted on: Sat 08 Aug 2009

CITY'S game against Colchester United will see a sell-out crowd with around 25,000 expected, and main Club sponsors Aviva are doing their bit to help raise the roof and build-up the pre-match atmosphere at Carrow Road.

Following on from their fan give-away last season, Aviva staff will be handing out 5,000 flags and 2,500 sets of bang bang sticks to supporters as they arrive at the ground.

This match will also see the start of the Ahead of the Game initiative - which aims to raise awareness of male cancers through providing free health checks.

Norwich City's Football in the Community have teamed up with the Football Foundation, the Department of Health and the Men's Health Forum to use the power of football to help fight cancer amongst men in and around Norfolk.

Outside the Jarrold Stand will be a mobile unit where people can go for further information on the project and take advantage of the free health checks with trained local Primary Care Trust (PCT) staff, such as blood pressure, waist measurement, BMI, height/weight, CO2 levels, lung function and urinalysis.

There will be a minute's applause before the game to pay tribute to former England, Newcastle United and Ipswich Town manager Sir Bobby Robson, who died on Friday, July 31 after a brave battle against cancer.

The only tickets currently remaining to home fans for this game are in the Top of the Terrace, seat only, behind glass, priced at £30.

However, there will be a limited number of season ticket buy-back seats on sale from 1pm at the buy-back windows next to the Ticket Office to personal callers on a one-per-supporter basis to those in the buy-back queue. Supporters can check on the quantity of available buy-backs by calling the Ticket Office on 0844 826 1902 from 9am on Saturday morning.
