CITY can today confirm the appointments of former Canary Ian Culverhouse as assistant manager and Gary Karsa as head of football operations.

Culverhouse and Karsa follow newly-appointed boss Paul Lambert from Colchester United, as preparations continue for Saturday's Coca-Cola League One clash against their former side Wycombe at Carrow Road (3pm).

Meanwhile, Ian Crook retains his current role working with the reserves and supporting with first team coaching duties. It has also been confirmed John Deehan has left his position as chief scout at the Club. The news follows Ian Butterworth's resignation as assistant manager yesterday afternoon.

New City boss Paul Lambert spoke to First News and said: "It's absolutely vital to have a good team around you as manager. Ian and Gary have been with me since Wycombe Wanderers and we have worked well together and all of us can't wait to get started with our first game against Wycombe on Saturday."

Ian Culverhouse began his first spell with Norwich City in October 1985 when he was recruited by then City boss Ken Brown from Tottenham Hotspur for a fee of £50,000. He had made just two league appearances for Spurs and joined City in pursuit of first team football.

A polished performer at right-back, Culverhouse ended his first season at Carrow Road with a Second Division championship winners' medal as Ken Brown's side returned to the top flight at the first time of asking in 1985-86.

His consistent performances saw him spend almost 10 years at the Club, making 369 appearances and scoring twice. During his Norwich City playing career he helped the Club twice record best ever league finishes in 1986-87 (5th in old First Division) and 1992-93 (3rd in Premier League). He also played in two FA Cup semi-finals and was a vital member of the City team who competed in the UEFA Cup in 1993-94.

Player of the Year in 1990-91, Ian is also a member of the Club's Hall of Fame and was voted into the Canaries' 'Greatest Ever' team in May 2008.

In December 1994 he left City for Swindon Town. After over 100 outings for the Wiltshire club he joined for Brighton & Hove Albion. It was while with the Seagulls he make his first move into coaching by taking charge of the club's reserve team.

Posts as youth team coach at Barnet and Leyton Orient followed before Culverhouse moved to Wycombe Wanderers in June 2005. After two years at Adams Park, Culverhouse had been promoted to the role of assistant manager and in October 2008 he followed Paul Lambert to Colchester United to continue as the Scotsman's right-hand man.

GARY KARSA: City's new Head of Football Operations

Gary Karsa joins the Canaries as head of football operations, following his management colleagues Paul Lambert and Ian Culverhouse with whom he has worked previously at both Colchester United and Wycombe Wanderers.

He held the position of football operations manager at The U's since he joined them from Adams Park in October 2008, where he'd been head of youth since September 2006.

Karsa began his coaching career at Enfield in 1998 as football and community officer, before moving to Barnet where he first worked with Ian Culverhouse. After a spell as Charlton's Head of Academy he linked up with Culverhouse again at Leyton Orient as head of youth.
