CITY can confirm Newcastle goalkeeper Fraser Forster will be joining the Canaries, initially on a one-month emergency loan deal.

The 21-year-old has been on loan with fellow League One team Bristol Rovers since the beginning of this season and also had a spell with Stockport last campaign.

A local Geordie lad, born in Hexham, he joined the Toon Academy in 2005 and after 14 second-string appearances during 2006-07, he earned a two-year pro contract at St James' Park.

He was on the bench for United's UEFA Cup match in Frankfurt on November 30, 2006 and was in the Newcastle squad for a number of FA Premier League games without making his league debut.

After good performances in the reserves throughout 2007-08, he signed a new deal in April 2008, keeping him in the North-east until 2010.

With Shay Given, before his move to Man City, and Steve Harper in front of him for the number one jersey, he joined Stockport for a one month loan spell in October 2008 - making his senior competitive debut on October 7 in the Johnstone's Paint Trophy at Bury. He subsequently made six League One appearances for County, keeping three clean sheets.

This season he joined The Pirates on a one-month deal, which has now ended and enables him to come to Carrow Road after making four appearances and keeping two clean sheets for Paul Trollope's side.
