FORSTER ON WHIRLWIND DEBUT
AFTER a whirlwind 24 hours which saw him swap a loan spell at Bristol Rovers for a loan spell with Norwich, young Newcastle United 'keeper Fraser Forster said he enjoyed making his Canary debut at Hartlepool.
Forster made some good saves and commanded his area well as he helped Norwich claim their first league clean sheet of the season with a 2-0 win at Victoria Park.
He told First News: "It was brilliant. Obviously it's an added bonus getting a clean sheet but just to win was nice. It's brilliant to come to such a big club and get the win in your first game - you couldn't ask for more.
"Obviously I'd played the start of the season at Bristol Rovers and it just came out of nowhere to be honest. It threw me a little bit, but after meeting the lads and the manager and just having a chat with him I worked out this is just a good place to come and play, especially with the ambition of the manager which is just phenomenal.
"To be fair I know Ben Alnwick so I was in there before the game trying to ask him the back fours' names!"
Although it's early days, Forster likes what he has seen so far of the Canaries under new boss Paul Lambert: "Norwich have had an indifferent start to the season but the new manager has come in and he knows what he wants and to be fair if we play like that every week we'll hopefully be there or thereabouts at the end of the season."
Asked if he would be scrapping with Ben Alnwick for the number one slot at Norwich, he replied: "It's kind of strange because I know him quite well so competing against each other isn't ideal in one sense. But we both want to further our own careers and if we can do that by just playing well for Norwich, that will benefit Norwich as well."
