TEAM NEWS FOR ORIENT

Posted on: Tue 29 Sep 2009

CITY boss Paul Lambert has confirmed Jon Otsemobor is struggling for fitness ahead of Tuesday night's match with Leyton Orient at Carrow Road (7.45pm).

The Norwich right-back was substituted after only 40 minutes on Saturday at the Priestfield Stadium with a hamstring injury, replaced by Stephen Hughes - himself having only just recovered from an ankle injury.

Goalkeeper Fraser Forster will definitely miss the match with The O's, having been sent off in the 1-1 draw with Gillingham. Lambert confirmed the Club is not set to appeal against the controversial decision with camera coverage of the match limited.

This will leave the Canaries' Manager with the choice of Declan Rudd or Michael Theoklitos between the sticks - Rudd having put in a good performance on his senior debut after coming on after Forster's dismissal on 33 minutes.

"Declan will come into the frame, whether I'll decide to go with him I'll decide tomorrow."

Asked if Australian 'keeper Theoklitos would be ready to play if called upon, having not seen first team action since the opening day of the season, Lambert commented: "If he is called upon, he's got to be ready."

Lambert described longer-term absentees Matt Gill (knee) and Owain Tudur Jones (calf) as recovering 'slowly but surely' but they were still a few weeks away from first team fitness.

With two late equalisers coming for the Canaries in successive games, Lambert is happy with the work ethic of his team: "You can't play a game, no matter even if you're down to 10-men, you'll always get a chance against somebody.  And we certainly did.

"Everything went against us - the penalty, Jon coming off and young Declan coming in it was a super effort. Absolutely brilliant.

"What has happened in the last two games is brilliant, everybody sees it, the fans see it which is important. They saw a team which hasn't wilted.  We haven't won but we also have lost only once in six games."

The O's will be bringing some familiar faces with them in the shape of former Canaries Ryan Jarvis and Andrew Cave-Brown. Fakenham-born Jarvis has scored twice for Orient in six starts and one substitute appearance, with Cave-Brown competing for the right-back position having only started once and coming off the bench twice so far this season.

Midfielder Jimmy Smith who was on loan at Carrow Road during the 2007-08 season joined the East London club in the summer from Chelsea and former Ipswich striker James Scowcroft is also in Geraint Williams' squad.

About tomorrow's opponents Lambert added: "I played against them when I was at Colchester. It's a tough game, it always is. Any team coming to Norwich is tough it doesn't matter who it is. The onus will be on us though as the home team."
