WIGGINS LOOKING FOR LEAGUE ACTION
LEFT-BACK Rhoys Wiggins is looking for his first league appearance for City - having signed in the summer from Crystal Palace.
Wiggins has international experience with Wales Under-21s, played in the Championship for Crystal Palace, League Two while on loan at Bournemouth and in the Johnstone's Paint Trophy with City - but is awaiting his first League One appearance.
Having played part games for the reserves, his first 90 minutes for City came last week in the 1-0 Johnstone's Paint Trophy victory over Gillingham at Priestfield Stadium.
"I had been training for a while so I was hoping the manager would play me, I knew he would want to rest a few with the amount of games they'd played but I didn't really know until the day before. It was good to get involved in that one. I was glad we won, good feeling to win and also winning gives me the other option of playing in the next round as well, so could get another 90 minutes there. I want that first league appearance, I've got the Johnstone's Paint Trophy one in the bag now."
The Welshman followed that up this week with another full game in the 7-0 win over Stevenage Borough Reserves at Carrow Road.
"That's the second 90 I've had since the op (knee operation) in the summer and I feel like I am getting fitter. I was just trying to use that game as fitness, trying to get forward as much as I can, the more I get on the better fitness levels I get. I try and incorporate that into my game and get forward as much as I can and help out the forwards.
"Coming back from injury, I think you always need three or four games before you fully feel fit but I came in the following day and my legs felt fine so that's a good sign and you can only get better with the more games you play but at the minute I am feeling good.
"I've been around the place so I feel part of it, been travelling with the squad now for a couple of weeks, got on the bench last Saturday (away at Carlisle United). It's just good to see us winning."
The 21-year-old is hoping to be involved as City travel to Elland Road to face league leaders Leeds United.
"It's a massive game, massive club, they've got a good support behind them as well and it is on Sky as well, so it would be nice to be involved."
