CITY are pleased to confirm combative midfielder Korey Smith has signed a new contract committing his future to the Canaries until 2013.

After breaking into the first team at the end of last season, 18-year-old Smith has been a fixture under boss Paul Lambert making ten appearances (one as a substitute) so far this campaign and scoring once, with a belter against Wycombe Wanderers.

Speaking to canaries.co.uk, Smith said: "Obviously I'm very proud and delighted to have signed my second professional contract and hopefully there will be more to come.

"He (Paul Lambert) has put faith in me with this second contract and I'm still young and it is still early in my career, hopefully I've got a bright future with Norwich City."

Smith made his senior debut at Carrow Road in April 2009 against Sheffield Wednesday and made his full debut a month later in the final game of the season at The Valley against Charlton Athletic.

Having signed his first professional contract in the summer of 2008, the Academy product's new pro deal keeps him at Carrow Road until at least 2012, with the club having the option on a further year.

City boss Paul Lambert said: "I think it's great for the Club to secure a promising young player like Korey and it's great for him as well that he wants to continue his development with us.

"He's part of a nucleus of good young players we have here at the moment and he's worked really hard and done really well since we've been here, so I'm delighted he's committed to a new contract."
