STRIKER Grant Holt has been named the Coca-Cola League One Player of the Month for October.

Holt netted five times in the league in as many appearances. He began the month with a brace in the 5-1 win over Bristol Rovers, before netting in the reverse at Leeds United. A second brace came away to Stockport County ending a fantastic month for the striker, which helped secure four wins out of five for City in the league.

Also short-listed were Millwall's Neil Harris, Dean Hammond of Southampton and Lee Barnard of Southend United.

Peter Whittingham of Cardiff collected the award in the Championship and Notts County goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel was awarded the League Two accolade.
