MCNAMEE CAN'T WAIT TO PLAY

Posted on: Tue 01 Dec 2009

WINGER Anthony McNamee can't wait to pull on a Norwich shirt for the first time following his loan move from Swindon Town last week.

McNamee was forced to sit out Saturday's 3-1 FA Cup reverse at Carlisle having already played in the competition for the Robins. But the 25-year-old is eligible for selection for tomorrow night's Roots Hall clash - and after having his first taste of the facilities at Colney can't wait to get his first call to action from Paul Lambert.

"I like the place it is very nice, it is better than what I am used to, I can't wait to get into it," he told First News. "I think I might be on the bench but I'm not too sure yet, but hopefully I can get involved.

"Hopefully I'll just hit the ground running really and get into my stride from the off."

Asked what had attracted him about the prospect of changing from a Robin to a Canary when the loan switch was on the cards, McNamee said: "Norwich is a big club, you can't really refuse playing in front of 25,000. I just like playing in front of good atmospheres, it gets me going, so playing for Norwich is going to be a big thing for me."

The winger already knew a couple of the City squad before he made the move on Thursday: "I know Semy (Jon Otsemobor) and obviously Owain Tudur Jones because he was on loan at Swindon last season," he commented.

Promotion is a realistic objective for Norwich as far as McNamee is concerned: "Most definitely, we've got a big squad with quality players all through the squad so it is strong enough," he told reporters.

When the Press asked if the main weapon at his disposal was his blistering pace, he answered intriguingly: "It's a bit more than that! Watch and see!"

Tickets for City's match with Southend at Roots Hall (7.45pm) tomorrow evening are available from the Carrow Road ticket office until noon on Tuesday.

Also watch the Canaries take on Oldham this Saturday at Carrow Road (3pm). Seats are on general sale by logging on to online ticketing, by calling 0844 826 1902, or in person at Carrow Road ticket office or the Canary Store in the Mall, Norwich.
