HOOLAHAN MAKES IT FIVE IN A ROW

Posted on: Sat 26 Dec 2009

WES Hoolahan added to his personal tally as well as helping the Canaries to their 50th league goal of the season so far, scoring City's opener in Norwich's 2-0 Boxing Day victory over Millwall at Carrow Road.

Hoolahan opened the scoring on 28 minutes extending his goalscoring run at Carrow Road, and the 27-year-old said it was something he was happy to keep going:

"The last five home games I've scored in every game so I'm really pleased with that," he said.

"I like to get on the ball and make things happen and create goals and score a few goals myself and hopefully I can keep it going."

The Irishman is part of City's trio of forwards who are enjoying a rich vein of form at present - Hoolahan now joins Chris Martin on 13 goals so far this season and top marksman Grant Holt reached 20 with his 68th-minute header against the Lions.

On Holt, Hoolahan said: "It's brilliant and I don't think he's even fully fit and he's got 20 goals, he's been brilliant and I think he'll hopefully get another 10 or so."

He continued: "It's working well and I hope it does for the rest of the year. Chrissy (Martin) has been banging in the goals, Chris is on the same amount as me and hopefully we can keep on bantering with each other and catch Holty, but I think he's a bit too far in front at the moment."

Today's results leave the Canaries just two points behind second-placed Charlton, after the Addicks got an injury-time equaliser against Swindon. Hoolahan commented: "It's very tight up there, there's us, Colchester, Leeds and Charlton. Obviously Christmas is a tough time, we've got another game on Monday and hopefully we'll go there and get another three points."

Monday sees City travel to Walsall and although another tough test is expected after a good defensive display earlier in the year by the Saddlers held City to a goalless draw at Carrow Road, Hoolahan is sure with confidence riding high in the Canary camp him and his team-mates will be looking for another three points.

"It's tough playing two games in three days but we will go there hopefully full of confidence and pick up three points," he said.

"We're on a good run, we're playing well and not conceding goals and we're putting the ball in the back of the net - and I don't think anybody fancies playing Norwich at the moment the run we're on.

"It's enjoyable with the fans behind you and playing in front of 25,000 it's brilliant and hopefully we can keep the run going."

City's match against Walsall is all-ticket. Canary fans are advised not to travel without a ticket.
