88th: Izzet booked for a foul on Korey Smith - the 10th booking of the match. Hughes comes on for Simon Lappin.

85th: City have another corner, Whitbred's ball headed out by Okuonghae. Lappin's delivery is met by Holt who heads towards goal but it's blocked and cleared.

84th: Zak Whitbread comes on for his City debut replacing goalscorer Chris Martin. Ian Henderson volleys an attempt which hits Russell Martin full on and drops away to safety.

83rd: Chris Martin tries a lob from distance but it drifts wide of the Col U's goal.

82nd: A bit of magic there from Oli Johnson! Baldwin stumbled with the ball on the edge of his box and the striker took the ball and rolled it home.

79th: Henderson free-kick doesn't trouble Forster and goes over his bar comfortably.

77th: A Tierney cross into the box is met by Odejayi, but his header is well-wide of Forster's right-hand post.

76th: Referee gives the U's a free-kick and the delivery vomes off a yellow shirt for a corner. Henderson takes and it goes across the face of City's goal and away to safety.

73rd: Col U press again, but Odejayi adjudged to have fouled Michael Nelson and it's a free-kick to the Canaries.

72nd: Wordsworth puts in a free-kick from the left but City clear through Nelson and the skipper who came back to defend.

69th: Platt heads over a high ball into the City box over the bar. Former Canary Ian Henderson comes on for his debut for the U's, replacing John White.

68th: Drury back on the field. Johnson again makes a nuisance of himself but Baldwin has the better of him this time and clears with help of his goalkeeper.

67th: Adam Drury down at the moment receiving treatment.

66th: Great first opportunity for Johnson, wins the ball on the edge of the area and cuts inside and unleashes an attempt which spoons up and away off the defender.

65th: Oli Johnson comes on for Hoolahan.

62nd: Wordsworth takes a free-kick on left and Pat Baldwin heads high over the bar.

61st: Canary corner on right - Lappin takes but Wordsworth clears his lines well.

60th: City free-kick on left, in-swinger from Lappin but this time the defence has the better of Holt and clear for a throw-in.

59th: A ball comes over for Clive Platt to chase but the Doc's got the better of him and clears out for a throw-in.

57th: Hoolahan steps up and rattles the cross-bar. Unfortunately the Irishman taps in the rebound and it's disallowed for double touch. No goal.

56th: Another free-kick to City right near the left-hand corner. Taken short by Russell to Lappin, who swings one in and Holt is pulled over by Okuonghae. Penalty! Okuonghae booked by referee Mike Dean.

55th: Double substitution by Col U - Fox replaced by Odejayi and Pat Baldwin comes on for Daniel Batth.

54th: Batth booked for a foul on Holt as he chases down a Drury long clearance - and as he looks to break through he's brought down by the defender. Martin's free-kick charged down by the wall.

52nd: Martin and Hoolahan lively around the Col U box, but the Irishman adjudged to have pushed a defender and concedes free-kick.

49th: Free-kick comes in from Hoolahan. Doherty challenges his marker and the ball drops to the defender's feet, he takes a touch and shoots home to extend City's lead.

48th: Hoolahan wins free-kick about 35-yards out . Hoolahan takes.

46th: The Canaries have possession down the left deep in Col U's half - succession of throw-ins leads to Drury cutting into the box and half-hearted penalty appeals are turned down by the referee as Drury goes over under a challenge.

City now kick-off the second half towards our fans.

"As I was going to say, before Chrissy Martin interuppted me! - I was a bit worried that the decisions were all going to Colchester. Now Doc having a yellow we need to be squueky clean, and the Doc needs to stay on his feet." - hrsthenwc - How rude of Super Chrissy Martin!

Half-Time - This afternoon's attendance - 10,064 - apparently the biggest league gate for 46 years for Colchester United.

Half-Time - Mike Dean blows his whistle to signal the end of the half. City go in two goals to the good at the half, Chris Martin with both goals. The first after 16 minutes, on the turn and a fine left-footed strike from the edge of the area and just before the interval going clean through from Grant Holt's pass and producing a cool finish to beat Ben Williams.

45+3 - Gary Doherty is penalised for a push and the kicks the ball way five yards, which annoys referee Mike Dean enough to produce his sixth booking of the afternoon. Four to City - Holt, Doherty, Hoolahan and Martin and two to Colchester - Marc Tierney and Kevin Lisbie. The delivery is too deep.

45+1 - And in the first minute of stoppage time, Chris Martin goes clean through one-on-one to double the advantage. Martin looked like he was going to struggle with the pitch, getting the ball caught under his feet slightly as he entered the penalty area but was cool enough to see Ben Williams make a move to his left and slip the ball over his diving body into the left-hand corner of the goal. Darel Russell won the ball in midfield and played it to skipper Holt who delivered the brilliant ball through for Chris Martin's 16th goal of the season. Paul Lambert enjoyed that, a jig and a punch to the air!

45th - A minimum of four minutes to be added on.

44th - Lisbie wins a corner off the legs of Simon Lappin. Wordsworth with the delivery from the right, left-footed inswinger but headed behind for a goal kick.

43rd - Gary Doherty penalised this time by Mike Dean. Just over 20 yards out, left of the goal, three over it. Anthony Wordsworth curls left-footed around the wall but into the side-netting, Forster was at full-stretch going to his left.

41st - Skipper Grant Holt becomes the fifth booking of the afternoon for persistent fouling, minutes after Mike Dean had spoken to him.

40th - Tierney down the left, low ball into the box, which eludes all and falls to Phil Ifil, far post, 12 yards out but he places his shot wide of the far post.

38th - High balls into the area area causing the City backline some problem, Clive Platt picking up the pieces this time and Michael Nelson making a great sliding block on the forward's shot. The resulting corner delivered from the right is overhit and goes out for a throw-in on this near side.

36th - Wordsworth again allowed time and space to shot, meeting a headed clearance on the volley but Forster down well again to save.

34th - Grant Holt receives a talking to by referee Mike Dean, yes that Mike Dean, for jumping with Daniel Batth.

31st - Simon Lappin forces a corner on the left and will take himself but his delivery is headed clear.

30th - The rain controls to pour and passes aren't finding their intended targets due to it holding up on the surface, chase everything is the message. It's lower league FA Cup tie stuff at times with this pitch and it is only going to get worse the more it rains and cuts up under foot.

26th - Nelson misjudges the ball allowing Clive Platt in behind him, Doherty over to cover and the striker opts for the early shot, which Forster saves down low at his near post.

24th - "There's no way this is ending 11 vs 11" - IMT -  Four booked inside a minute.

22nd - "YYYYYESSS!!! What a great goal!! Superbly taken by Martin!" - IMT - It was a great strike from Chris Martin on his left foot, did well initially to get the fall out of his feet.

20th - Kem Izzet delivers the eventual free-kick, which bounces just in front of Forster but he takes it well with players running across the front of him.

18th - The first flashpoint of the match, Wes Hoolahan is caught late and high after the ball by Marc Tierney and the two come together. Both are booked, as are Chris Martin for his protestations and Kevin Lisbie.

16th - The first real attack City have mounted gives them the lead! Darel Russell tried to bring the ball forward across the halfway line, but the pitch halted his progress. Played wide to Russell Martin, given to Wes Hoolahan, who chipped it to Korey Smith, he was dispossessed but the poor clearance who capitalised upon and Chris Martin turned on to his left foot and drilled his effort low past Ben Williams.

12th - Colchester again getting joy down the left, Wordsworth getting to the byline and hanging up a cross, which Forster punches clear to the ege of the area. U's again pick up the pieces on the edge of the box and David Fox is there to hit, it is blocked by the charging City player, of whom there were three. Loud shouts for handball but Mike Dean is quick to wave them again.

10th - The first ten minutes have belonged to the hosts. City not able to gain any sort of controlled possession. John White tries an ambitious shot from wide on the right, 30 yards but wide of Forster's goal.

7th - Tierney lining up a long throw-in, complete with towel drying, but opts for the short, cross goes into the box. City fail to deal with it and it eventually falls to Anthony Wordsworth, who takes a touch before looking to curl one into the bottom-hand corner but Fraser Forster does well down low to his left to palm it away.

6th - Tierney swings over another cross from the left but Fraser Forster catches with ease.

5th - Nelson returns with a blank shirt, the no-named man (or numbered).

4th - Michael Nelson has a cut just above his right eye and has come off to clean it up, physio Simon Spencer applies the bandage and a fresh shirt will also be required. Korey Smith filling in at right-back while Russell Martin goes into centre-back.

2nd - The pitch plays its first part of the match, holding up on the sides when it looked like running out, Anthony Wordsworth got to it, laid it back for Marc Tierney to cross, Michael Nelson won the header but it fell to David Fox who blazed over from 14 yards.

1st - Colchester get us underway with a long ball forward, which goes out for a goal kick. Paul Lambert and Aidy Boothroyd stand in their respective technical areas, both men of course having worked for the opposite club. Paul Lambert received a mixed reception shall we say when he came out to the sidelines.

The teams emerge from the tunnel to a huge roar from all sections of the ground, which is packed to the rafters, the first complete sell-out at the new ground.

The pitch may well be a factor this afternoon, it is looking quite heavy, the rollers have been trying to clear away some of the water. The skies are grey overhead and only look to bring more rain throughout the game.

Both teams start with six players, which started on the opening day of the season, for City - Adam Drury, Michael Nelson and Gary Doherty in defence and going forward, Wes Hoolahan, Chris Martin and Grant Holt. For Colchester United - goalkeeper Ben Williams, defenders Magnus Okuonghae, Marc Tierney, midfielder David Fox and strikers Clive Platt and Kevin Lisbie.

The City supporters have the stand behind one of the goals to themselves, the stand to which the City players are currently warming up. If they stay the same ends to start the match, then City will be kicking towards their fans second half, just like at Southend United and Wycombe Wanderers.

Manager Paul Lambert names an unchanged starting line-up from the win over Exeter City last weekend. Onto the bench steps new signing Zak Whitbread, who was ineligible for that match and Stephen Hughes returning from injury:

CITY: Forster, Drury, Nelson, R.Martin, Holt (c), Doherty, Hoolahan (Johnson 65), C.Martin (Whitbread 84), Lappin (Hughes), Russell, Smith. Subs not used: Rudd (GK), Gill, McNamee, McDonald.
