NORWICH City Football Club's savings account with Norwich and Peterborough Building Society (N&P) has now netted over £3m for the Club.

Since 1997, thousands of Norwich City fans have saved money in the Canary Account, earning the Club an annual bonus and at this Saturday's game against Hartlepool United, N&P will present the Canaries with a cheque for £240,173.

Norwich City receives an annual cash sum equivalent to 1% of the average total balance held in the account during the previous 12 months. Saturday's cheque will bring the total handed over to the Canaries since the initiative was launched 13 years ago to £3.16m.

Not only can supporters earn interest for themselves and a bonus for Norwich City Football Club, Canary Account holders can also save money on their 2010-11 season tickets. A Canary Account holder sitting in the N&P Stand can claim a 5% discount on their 2010-11 season ticket or if they sit in any other stand at Carrow Road they can claim a 2% discount when signing up for their season ticket before March 31, 2010.

Other benefits include regular prize draws throughout 2010 including the chance to win £100 credited into your Canary Account or signed memorabilia. At the end of the year all Canary Account holders will be automatically placed into a prize draw to win one of 10 VIP matchday places to attend the 2011 Canary Account celebration day at Carrow Road.

Norwich City's Head of Sales and Marketing, Will Hoy, said: "The Club is delighted to receive another significant cheque from N&P, to take the total past £3m is a tremendous achievement.

"We would like to thank thousands of supporters who continue to save in the Canary Account and encourage all fans who currently don't have an account to see the benefits you can receive and how you can play your part in continuing its success. We would also like to extend our thanks to N&P as a loyal, long-standing partner of the Football Club and thank you to all their staff for their support."

N&P's Retail Sales and Service Manager for Norwich, Carl Wyer, said: "We're really pleased to be handing over another great amount to the Club this year. In the current financial climate, when statistics show fewer people in the UK are saving, it's a testament to the fans who save in the account that the Club is still receiving over £240,000."

Supporters can sign up for a Canary Account by visiting their nearest Norwich and Peterborough branch or log on to www.npbs.co.uk/canaries, where they can sign up for an online savings account.
