SPORT RELIEF RUN SUNDAY

Posted on: Mon 22 Mar 2010

CITY have kicked off their support for this year's Sport Relief with the help of former Canaries Darren Huckerby and Craig Fleming and current Norwich City Chief Executive David McNally.

All three will be joined by other Norwich City and Football in the Community staff to take part in the Norwich City Council organised Sainsbury's Sport Relief Mile on Sunday, March 21.

This event is one of hundreds of activities around the country being held to help raise funds for the national charity, which aims to transform the lives of poor and vulnerable people, both here in the UK and across the world's poorest countries, as well as encouraging people to get involved in physical activity.

One of the local projects which has received Sport Relief funding has been Football in the Community's Extra Time project, which helps provide weekly physical and social activities for the over-60s.

Those from Norwich City and other participants in the Sainsbury's Sport Relief Mile will have the option of running one, three or six miles around the city streets and anyone who wishes to sponsor the Football Club runners are asked to donate by clicking onto the 'sponsor this team' link on this website: www.mysportrelief.com/norwichcityfc2010.

Norwich City Chief Executive and participant David McNally commented: "I'm really looking forward to taking part in this year's Sport Relief with Darren and Craig and the great people from the Extra Time project.

"Extra Time has been a hugely successful initiative since it was set up thanks in part to funding from Sport Relief. I hope as many City fans as possible would consider doing their bit to help support this fun and worthwhile cause and hopefully many of our staff at Carrow Road and Colney will join in the event."
