FINAL CHAPTER OF SQUADCAST

Posted on: Thu 25 Feb 2010

THE final chapter of Squadcast is launched today (8pm), with skipper Grant Holt, right-back Russell Martin and Norwich-born midfielder Matt Gill answering a couple of viewer questions and whether they've always played in their current position.

As a taster to the final chapter, we'll reveal some of their answers:

Have you always played in your current position?
Grant Holt: I started out as a centre-half. I wasn't too bad, I had a couple of trials here and there, Stoke and places like that. I used to play right-back for Carlisle for about six years. I left Carlisle and the team I went to already had a right-back so I went up front, started scoring and never looked back.

Matt Gill: I used to play right-back for Peterborough for about 18 months. I enjoyed my time at right-back but I've always wanted to play in centre midfield, going back to the Gazza (Paul Gascoigne) thing and Kenny Dalglish was another one of my idols.

Viewer Question - Do you have any pre-match routines or superstitions?
RM: Footballers like routine, they don't like different. I just eat the same things, try to go to bed at the same time. Especially if you played well the week before, you try and do the same things, replicate that the next week because then you can't blame anything else.

GH: I've got loads. I always go in the same shower in the corner at the home games. I say a pray for my dad, who is no longer with us, I always do that in the same corner - they are the more personal things. Everything I've done in football is more for my dad, when I was at Halifax, my first club, was when he passed away, since then I've done it and wanted to make him proud.

MG: I've not really got any. I'm the same as Russ really, routine, I'm a stickler for routine, do exactly the same things pre-match, the night before, mainly just routine for me.
