RUSSELL RED CARD APPEAL DISMISSED

Posted on: Thu 25 Feb 2010

THE FOOTBALL Association have dismissed City's appeal against the red card shown to Darel Russell during Saturday's 2-0 defeat to Southampton at Carrow Road.

City appealed against the decision by referee Russell Booth, which came in the 64th minute as Saints Morgan Schneiderlin collided with the Canary midfielder's leg as he stretched to reach a loose high ball.

Russell was sent off for serious foul play and subject to an immediate three-match ban.

An FA Disciplinary Commission has this lunchtime dismissed City's appeal and as a result Russell's three-match ban will stay in force, meaning he misses tonight's clash against Southend and the forthcoming games against Oldham and Yeovil.
