ALTHOUGH there is nothing more goalkeeper Fraser Forster would like than to restart a run of clean sheets against Oldham Athletic tomorrow (3pm), the big stopper will be happy as long as the Canaries claim the three points on offer.
After a superb defensive run, City have not kept a clean sheet since their 1-0 victory over Brentford last month, but Forster says the trip to Boundary Park gives them an opportunity to rectify this in what will be a tough game with Oldham fighting for the points at the wrong end of League One.
"It's ideal to keep a clean sheet as it takes the pressure off the front me," he said. "But for certain reasons it hasn't happened, but hopefully we can get a clean sheet tomorrow and that will kick us on again.
"Playing away from home is always different and teams need to pick up points for different reasons at this stage of the season, so it will be a difficult game."
Although the 22-year-old says the Canaries are determined to keep getting good results - and their commitment is there for all to see with results like Tuesday's when City came back from a goal down to beat The Shrimpers in the final moments of the game.
"Obviously it was unbelievable to win it in the last minute," said Forster. "But we worked hard for the 90 minutes and got a fantastic result.
"I didn't really have much to do, which is a good game for a goalkeeper, but that just shows how dominant we were during the 90 minutes and as I said wew were unlucky not to take the chances previous to the ones we did."
The Newcastle 'keeper is on loan at Carrow Road for the rest of the season, but shares his time between Norfolk and the North-East.
"Everybody seems to be pretty happy with how I'm doing, so the feedback has been pretty good. It's obviously good for me as I still get to train up there a bit and they still get a look at me so it's working out well."
Former Woking goalkeeper Laurence Batty is currently helping out Paul Lambert's management team by coaching the current crop of City stoppers - Lambert having previously worked with Batty at Wycombe whilst he was manager there.
Forster commented: "He's a very nice guy and has obviously come in and like every goalkeeping coach has got their own ideas and so training has been different over the last couple of weeks, but it has been really good, so hopefully we'll have him for the rest of the season.
"He's a very good coach - he's been at Chelsea and has brought a lot of ideas from Chelsea with him here so he's excellent to work with."
As well as working at Stamford Bridge he also has the claim to fame of being the hero of former City and current West Ham and England goalkeeper Robert Green. And although touted as a future international himself Forster says he is just concentrating on his league form with Norwich at present: "It's weird the way things work out and obviously Rob Green has done extremely well for himself, but I just take every game as it comes and see what happens, just work hard and see where you end up."
