FOLLOWING recent media stories regarding the provision of traffic management after its home matches, the Club would once again like to clarify its position on this issue.
The safety of our supporters has been and will always be of paramount importance to Norwich City. We can once again confirm the responsibility to provide traffic management outside Carrow Road does not rest with the Club but rather with the local traffic authority, in this case Norfolk County Council.
However we are always willing to talk to other stakeholders when issues arise and on this matter we will gladly work towards helping to find a solution.
We should point out however that certain inaccuracies regarding the historic provision of traffic management are being stated to supporters as fact.
In particular it has come to our attention that several individuals are claiming the Club has historically paid for the provision of traffic management outside of Carrow Road.
We would like to take this opportunity to highlight these inaccuracies and confirm that we have never made, nor ever been responsible for, any unilateral financial contribution towards the provision of traffic management.
We do of course pay the appropriate taxes as you would expect for a business of our size and stress again that the safety of our supporters is a primary consideration at all times.
It is disappointing county councillors have suggested in the media that the Club are responsible for maintaining safety on the highways, whereas in fact the responsibility rests with the local authorities.
The Club will gladly work with other stakeholders in an attempt to find a resolution to the situation. In the meantime we would once again urge all supporters to take extra care when exiting the stadium after home matches.
