LAMBERT READY FOR ANOTHER TOUGH CHALLENGE
CITY boss Paul Lambert this morning confirmed defender Adam Drury and midfielder Darel Russell will both be in the traveling party for tomorrow's Coca-Cola League One match away to Huddersfield Town (3pm).
Drury travels with the team for the first time since limping off in the first half of City's 2-1 win away to Walsall on January 26 with a thigh injury. Russell meanwhile returns to the squad following a three-match ban after his controversial red card against Southampton.
"Adam's coming up with us, he only played an hour the other day but there's been no reaction so he'll come with us," confirmed Lambert.
Although Drury's hour-long outing in the Reserves' win at Southend United on Tuesday afternoon sees him join the travelling party - the match has come too soon for fellow defender Zak Whitbread.
"Zak is doing fine, we'll see where he is next week and maybe try and play him in the reserve game."
The availability of Russell gives Lambert options in the centre of the park. The midfielder had been in fine form before his dismissal against the Saints but with City recording a hat-trick of League One wins without the 29-year-old, he may find it difficult walking straight back into the starting eleven. However, the City boss was keeping his cards very close to his chest before the team coach departed for West Yorkshire.
"He is in the squad like everybody else is and I know the team that's going to play," said the Canary chief.
City have recorded wins over Southend, Oldham and Yeovil without the services of Russell and Lambert was swift to acknowledge the efforts of his team in recent weeks.
"The lads have been brilliant for me. It was the same situation when Grant (Holt) was out - Cody (McDonald) came in and done well and Oli (Johnson) came in and was great."
Saturday's trip to the Galpharm Stadium sees City go head-to-head with a Terriers team unbeaten on home soil in League One this season. Despite recording a comprehensive 3-0 win over Lee Clark's side at Carrow Road in December, Lambert said he was anticipating another typically tough League One challenge come kick-off tomorrow.
"Every game is hard and you have to get over it - this one will be no different. We're playing well, ok Huddersfield have been beaten in the last couple of games but they're still trying to get in the play-offs. We've got to go and try and win the game, we'll have 3,000 fans there and we'll be ready."
Despite the media quizzing Lambert on the importance of City's next three fixtures (Huddersfield and Swindon away followed by Leeds at home) at this morning's press briefing, the City boss confirmed that with three points at stake every fixture had the same level of importance. There was no way Lambert saw the month of March making or breaking City's season.
"I don't see it like that, they are every bit as important as the previous three games or the three that come after."
