LEAGUE PITCH INCURSION MESSAGE

Posted on: Mon 10 May 2010

THE Football League has called for fans to stay off the pitch at this weekend's final round of games in Leagues 1 and 2 and throughout the upcoming Coca-Cola Football League Play-Offs.

A number of relegation and promotion issues will be decided this Saturday and over the next few weeks and The League has asked fans to respect the law and consider the potential wider consequences of such actions.

Gavin Megaw, The Football League's Director of External Affairs said: "In the last week we have seen incidences at football matches where the safety of players and fellow spectators could have been compromised by fans invading the pitch. The football authorities have re-issued guidance to clubs reminding them that fans entering the field of play is a criminal offence and is unacceptable in any circumstances.

"We would encourage fans to follow this advice as it ensures that all spectators can safely enjoy going to matches and prevents their club facing possible disciplinary action from the football authorities and increased stewarding costs."
