HAVING just put pen to paper on a three-year contract with the Canaries, City new boy Andrew Surman said he felt he had joined Norwich City at just the right time.
"I'm delighted to be here, it's a massive club and coming on the back of a brilliant promotion from League One last season I'm joining the Club on the crest of a wave at the moment."
Having witnessed the Canaries' impressive surge to the League One title last season, Surman said he felt his new club should look to carry on from where they left off when the 2010-11 npower Championship season kicks off on August 7.
"For next season we've got to have the same hopes as last season and be pushing for at least the play-offs and look to get promoted again - the Club's got a massive fanbase and the players are certainly here," added the former Wolves midfielder.
Surman confirmed he has spoken at length to City boss Paul Lambert and is impressed with the Scot's plans for the future and is looking forward to working with the former Scotland international.
"I spoke to the manager and really liked what he had to say. This is a club with massive ambition and having spoken to a few of the Southampton players who played against Norwich last season, they all had good things to say about this team. It is an exciting time for the Club after promotion last season and being part of that is what really enticed me."
Despite not featuring on a regular basis with Wolves last season, Surman said he felt the experience of plying his trade in the Premier League had improved him as a player.
"I think in the games that I did play I learned a lot from," confirmed the 23-year-old.

"Training with Premier League players every week improved my game but it was hard to swallow not playing as many games as I would have liked. But even travelling to Premier League grounds and watching games you do learn a lot from the some of the best players in the world so it was a good experience for me."
With mouth-watering pre-season matches at home to Premier League sides Newcastle United and Everton on the agenda next month and a Carrrow Road date with Watford on the opening day of the season, Surman confirmed these really are exciting times for the Canaries.
"It is good to be playing some Premier League teams and that will be a big test. Being at home on the first game as well and playing in front of your own fans in a new division is going to be a great atmosphere and I'm looking forward to it."
