Final Score: Norwich City 2 Newcastle United 1

90+2: There goes the final whistle - and City have gained an excellent win against Premier League Newcastle in front of a crowd of 13,195.

89th: The visitors are a whisker away from equalising at the death as Lovenkrands heads Ferguson's cross against the bar.

85th: This is great stuff from City as the 'oles' ring round the ground. A move of some 20 or so consecutive passes ends with Matt Gill unleashing a fierce drive which Krul is forced to palm away.

80th: Deep ball from the right by Routledge finds Ameobi who heads just over the City bar.

78th: Further changes - Surman and Fox are replaced by Lappin and Gill.

75th: Another goal for City! McNamee's cross into the danger zone causes problems and Chris Martin rises with the Toon defence and the ball is flicked into the bottom corner past Krul. The goal is given to Chris Martin although it may have got a touch off a Newcastle head.

72nd: Anthony McNamee replaces Hoolahan for Norwich.

69th: Ruddy makes a good stop with his feet to deny Ameobi.

66th: Crofts makes another good run down the right and this tiime cuts the ball across to Surman who can't quite take the ball under control but finds Hoolahan - unfortunately the Irishman's shot is well wide of the target.

64th: City go close again and force Krul into a great double save. Crofts finds Chris Martin who works himself an opening and the big 'keeper denies him and then on the follow-up Surman is denied again by the Dutchman.

63rd: Two City changes - George Francomb replaces Ward and Jackson comes off for Oli Johnson.

61st: End to end action - Ameobi causes problems for City, lifting a shot come cross over Ruddy and across the Norwich goal and then Jackson lifts an effort over the Toon bar after good work by Chris Martin at the other end.

59th: Routledge cross headed well clear by Nelson in City's penalty area.

57th: City have Jackson effort ruled out for offside after bhe side-footed home Chris Martin's cross.

56th: Surman corner only cleared out to Fox who puts the ball back into the danger zone. Crofts looks to get on the end of it but Newcastle clear his attempt under pressure.

54th: Another good Canary move. Crofts with some good play down the right and Chris Martin controls the ball in the Toon box. The striker drills a ball across the area but can't find Jackson and the ball runs out for Newcastle to collect.

52nd: Jackson shrugs off his marker on the touchline and passes out to Hoolahan who cuts into the  box and tries a curling shot, but Krul sees the danger and makes a catch.

51st: Lovenkrands looks to make a break but a good interception from Nelson stops the danger.

47th: Newcastle equalise through substitute Ameobi. Xisco cuts inside and finds the striker who takes a touch and passes the ball through Ruddy's legs and into the back of the net.

The second half is underway.

No changes for City at the break. Newcastle make several changes.

Half-time: There goes the whistle and it's been a good and encouraging half for City. They deservedly lead 1-0 thanks to Chris Martin's strike.

41st: Newcastle think they have equalised but Nile Ranger's strike is ruled out for offside.

39th: GOAL FOR CITY! Wes Hoolahan the architect. The Irish midfielder pounces on Ryan Taylor's sloppy defensive pass, rounds two Newcastle defenders and squares for Chris Martin to tap home his third pre-season goal into the empty net.

36th: Wes Hoolahan looks to have evaded the Newcastle defence and makes a run onto goal, but the referee pulls back play deciding that the Irishman had handled the ball in the build-up.

35th: Ruddy is forced to palm away a Joey Barton free-kick and his defenders block the rebound.

33rd: Fox's resulting free-kick is deflected for a corner, which the Canaries take and put the Newcastle defence under pressure but the ball is eventually caught by Krul.

32nd: Hoolahan releases Jackson far right and the striker compeats with Coloccini, both players are floored and as Jackson beats the Toon defender to the ball, he brings the Canadian International down for a free-kick.

26th: A good spell of possession by the Canaries, but can't quite find a way through the Toon defence.

23rd: Fox hits a good pass on the volley, but Jackson is unfortunately deemed offside.

20th: Great ball down the left by Drury which Jackson latches onto but Tavernier does enough and the ball goes out for a Norwich throw.

17th: Good work by Hoolahan again, finding Chris Martin in the box and the striker looks for Jackson but can't quite find his strike partner and the visitors clear.

14th: Canary corner comes in, which is met by Nelson and Newcastle struggle to clear their lines but do so at the second attempt.

13th: Surman feeds Hoolahan who dinks a ball into Chris Martin in the area, the striker controls and places a low shot at goal which forces Krul into a good low stop at his far post. Best ove of the match so far by the Canaries.

12th: Good ball by Crofts finds Jackson who controls well and wins a corner off Coloccini.

10th Nile Ranger wins a corner off Drury. Ward defends the flag kick with a good header.

9th: Hoolahan makes a break through the centre and has a dig which cannons off Tavernier over the bar for a corner. Surman's corner finds Chris Martin at the near post but he can't flick it on and it's cleared by the Toon defence.

7th: Carroll volleys well wide as the ball falls to him from a defebnsive clearance on the edge of the box.

5th: Nice interchange between Surman and Jackson, releasing the striker down the right and he wins a throw-on as he's challenged.

3rd: City make progress down the left with Drury an his cross is cleared.

1st: Newcastle attack straight from the kick-off with Andy Carroll putting in a cross from the left but it's dealt with by Adam Drury.

We're off!

Team news:

There are eight changes to the starting line-up compared to Thursday night's game at Dagenham & Redbridge, as Paul Lambert starts with a stronger starting eleven. Michael Nelson partners Elliott Ward in defence who made his first appearance at Victoria Road.

New signings Andrew Crofts, Andrew Surman and David Fox join Wes Hoolahan in midfield and Chris Martin and new striker Simeon Jackson are upfront with skipper Grant Holt still missing with a thigh injury.

Goalkeeper Fraser Forster is not in the Newcastle squad that's travelled from the North East.
