SUMMER signing David Fox has called for the Canaries to right the wrongs of their Championship opener on Friday, with a good performance against Gillingham in the Carling Cup first round tonight (7:45pm).
With only four days gone since City's 3-2 defeat to Watford, tonight's encounter gives the side a chance to bounce back as they prepare to face a Gillingham side that provided a stern test during City's promotion from League One.
And Fox insisted the Canaries were pleased to have an immediate return to the field: "It's good to get another game in straight away and another one at home. So from that aspect it is good to get another game going and aim to put right a few of the wrongs right from Friday," Fox told First News.
"We were only in the same league last year, so it'll be a tough game and I'm sure they're looking forward to coming to Carrow Road and it'll be a big night for them," Fox explained. "But we've got to make sure that we are on our metal and have a better start than we did on Friday because that was disappointing, so if we start well hopefully we can get the right result."
The Carling Cup brings the first chance for City to go on a potentially exciting cup run this season, with those Premiership clubs not involved in European competition possible opponents in the second round, should the Canaries progress.
And with the likes of Everton, Sunderland and West Ham in the pot for the second round, Fox insisted a cup run would further instil the winning mentality within the side.
"It'll be great to have a cup run. At the end of the day you're playing matches and every match we want to win. That is how we approach things, we go into every game wanting to win it, we have to win it, so if that takes us on a good run then we'll be delighted with that."
