TEAM NEWS FOR FOREST CLASH

Posted on: Tue 31 Aug 2010

NEW loan signing Leon Barnett is in contention for a first start for the Canaries against Nottingham Forest at the City Ground on Saturday.

The on-loan West Bromwich Albion defender will be in competition with Jens Berthel Askou, who lined up with Elliott Ward in City's Carling Cup defeat to Blackburn Rovers in midweek, as both look to provide cover for Michael Nelson who could be out for 'a couple of weeks'.

Speaking to the press at City's Colney Training Centre, Lambert said: "We needed cover to come in following Michael's injury. Leon played in midweek against Leyton Orient and he trained yesterday as well so I don't have any problems.

"Jens did fine on Tuesday night, but he hasn't played many games either due to the form of Michael and Elliott together. He did well the other night and I will decide tomorrow what what I'll do."

Lambert will also be without Zak Whitbread, as he continues to progress from a calf injury, whilst John Ruddy, Korey Smith, Andrew Crofts, Andrew Surman, Adam Drury and Chris Martin will all be available for selection at the City Ground having missed City's defeat to Blackburn.
