CITY will commemorate the life of broadcaster Roy Waller, with the renaming of the commentary position at Carrow Road before the game against Barnsley on Saturday.
A plaque to name the 'Roy Waller Commentary Box' will be unveiled by Roy's wife Sylvie and Canaries' Chairman Alan Bowkett at approximately 2:50pm before this weekend's game against Barnsley.
Roy commentated on the Canaries for BBC Radio Norfolk for nearly three decades.
He passed away in July 2010 at the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital, where he was being treated for a liver illness.
"Roy's voice was so much a part of following the Canaries for several generations of fans," said BBC Norfolk editor David Clayton.
"He was that most important thing in BBC local radio - a fan with a microphone sharing the ups and downs of our team," said David.
During his career Roy's dulcet tones brought listeners news of the Canaries' joyous promotion to the Premier League in 2004, as well as the despair of relegation a year later.
"I can think of no better tribute the football club can make than to allow the naming of the commentary box in Roy's honour.
"His name will, quite rightly, live on right above the tunnel at Carrow Road from where he described so many wonderful football moments." he added.
