IAN Crook or 'Chippy' as he's affectionately known by Canary fans returns to Carrow Road after an absence of 12 years, as First Team Coach.

Crook made 418 appearances, scoring 24 goals for the Canaries after joining them from Tottenham in June 1986 and was capped as an England B international during his career.

The midfielder was part of one of the most successful City sides, helping the Canaries to a series of top five finishes in England's top division during his 11 seasons with the Club, and featuring in City's UEFA Cup run under manager Mike Walker.

In 1997, he left the Canaries and was signed by Sanfrecce Hiroshima in Japan and then moved to Australia in May 1998 to play for Northern Spirit FC, where he then started his coaching career, becoming Assistant Manager of the A-League side in May 2001. He then left to take up the job as Head Coach of fellow Aussie side Newcastle Jets, leading them to the runners-up spot and was named Australian Coach of the Year for the national league in May 2002.

Two years later he was appointed national coach of American Samoa but returned to Australian league football with Sydney FC, initially under Former German International Pierre Littbarski and then former England International defender Terry Butcher.

After a spell with Japanese outfit Avispa Fukuoka in January 2007 he returned again to his former club Newcastle Jets as High Performance Manager in October 2008.

In the Club's centenary year Canary fans voted Crook into Norwich City Football Club's Hall of Fame and in 2008 was also voted into the Club's Greatest Ever team alongside England legend Martin Peters in midfield.
