FORMER City defender Ian Culverhouse was appointed assistant manager to Paul Lambert on August 20, 2009, following the resignation of Ian Butterworth the day before.
Ian Culverhouse began his first spell with Norwich City in October 1985 when he was recruited by then City boss Ken Brown from Tottenham Hotspur for a fee of £50,000. He had made just two league appearances for Spurs and joined City in pursuit of first team football.
A polished performer at right-back, Culverhouse ended his first season at Carrow Road with a Second Division championship winners' medal as Ken Brown's side returned to the top flight at the first time of asking in 1985-86.
His consistent performances saw him spend almost 10 years at the Club, making 369 appearances and scoring twice. During his Norwich City playing career he helped the Club twice record best ever league finishes in 1986-87 (5th in old First Division) and 1992-93 (3rd in Premier League). He also played in two FA Cup semi-finals and was a vital member of the City team who competed in the UEFA Cup in 1993-94.
Player of the Year in 1990-91, Ian is also a member of the Club's Hall of Fame and was voted into the Canaries' 'Greatest Ever' team in May 2008.
In December 1994 he left City for Swindon Town. After over 100 outings for the Wiltshire club he joined for Brighton & Hove Albion. It was while with the Seagulls he make his first move into coaching by taking charge of the club's reserve team.
Posts as youth team coach at Barnet and Leyton Orient followed before Culverhouse moved to Wycombe Wanderers in June 2005. After two years at Adams Park, Culverhouse had been promoted to the role of assistant manager and in October 2008 he followed Paul Lambert to Colchester United to continue as the Scotsman's right-hand man.
