DEFENDER Leon Barnett initially joined the Canaries on loan from Premier League club West Bromwich Albion on August 26, 2010.

And after a successful few months a permanent deal was agreed with the Baggies for Barnett to stay at Carrow Road from January 2011 when he put pen to paper on a three-and-a-half year contract.

Barnett made his City debut in the Canaries' 1-1 draw with Nottingham Forest on August 28, starting alongside Elliott Ward in the heart of the Norwich City defence. The City centre back went on to make a further 25 appearances for the Canaries before a hamstring injury, picked up in City's 2-1 win over Reading in February, forced him to miss the rest of the season.

Previously, he joined the Baggies from Luton Town in July 2007 for an initial fee of £2.5million and made 55 league and cup appearances for the Midlands side, including five as a substitute and netted three goals in the process.

The 6ft 1in centre-back joined Coventry City on loan in 2009-10 and made 20 appearances for the Sky Blues, including one as a substitute. A former Luton player of the year and trainee, Barnett made a total of 78 appearances for the Hatters, including ten as a subsitute, and scored three goals.
