CITY Reserves came from a goal behind to record a 2-1 win over Peterborough United Reserves in the Totesport.com Combination match at Colney this afternoon.

Ian Crook named an experienced starting eleven with all the City team having played League One football for the Canaries this season.

City's first clear opening of the game came in the 10th minute as Oli Johnson robbed Posh right-back Alex Austin. The Canary striker then broke into the box, but saw his shot at goal blocked. Johnson played the rebounded ball back into the danger area where Cody McDonald was adjudged to be offside.

However, it was Posh who took the lead on 14 minutes when striker Josh Simpson received the ball on the edge of the Norwich area before turning and making space for himself to send a fierce low shot past Declan Rudd.

Norwich forced their first corner on 31 minutes, McNamee swung the ball in the near post area for Zak Whitbread to send a glancing header across the face of the goal.

The Canaries levelled the match on 35 minutes when Paul McVeigh converted a penalty. McNamee chipped the ball into the path of the overlapping Adam Drury who was clattered by Sam Gaughran - referee Mr Whitton with no option but to point to the spot.

Crook rang the changes at half-time with George Francomb and Josh Dawkin replacing Whitbread and McDonald respectively.

Eight minutes into the second half and City were in front as Johnson met McNamee's near post corner with a firm header, which was flicked on by Francomb, came off the underside of the bar before rebounding off Posh 'keeper Jim McKeown and in.

City had chances to add to their lead with Johnson and Stephen Hughes both going close. However, the closest  the Canaries came to making it 3-1 was when Jens Berthel Askou crashed a header against the bar.
