CITY'S Luke Daley said it was an enjoyable night after scoring a hat-tick in the Canary Reserves' 4-2 victory over Arsenal at Carrow Road.

The 19-year-old striker told First News: "I enjoyed it a lot.  At the start when we went 1-0 down, the boys did well to get back and once we got the first goal back we turned it on then and gave them a good game and I really enjoyed it tonight.

"With it being Arsenal, everyone thought it was a big name, but we put that behind us and realised we could give them a game and as soon as we started playing ourselves we scored our first goal and kept on going."

Daley who signed pro with the Canaries back in April this year, said the team had given a good account of themselves: "It says a lot really.  It shows we've got a good youth team coming through.  A lot of the young lads, even the first years didn't look like they were too nervous.  They gave what they had and they've recently been playing well in the youth team games as well and they deserved to get their chance and start tonight."

With Glenn Roeder watching in the stands, the Northampton-born player said it was a good opportunity to show the first team boss what he and others could do. "I've just got to keep on playing and keep catching the gaffer's eye and see where we go from there," he said.

"All the players are around the same age and have got to keep trying to do their best. With the first team gaffer watching the games, it doesn't do any harm.

"The games we've been getting arranged, like against Arsenal, aren't going to do us any harm anyway because it's good competition to show the gaffer what we can do."
