CITY beat Wroxham 4-0 to remain unbeaten in reserve games at Carrow Road this season.

Cody McDonald scored in each half to continue his fine scoring record and further second half goals from subs Johnbull Omoregie and Nick Davey saw off the Ridgeons Premier League side.

First team coach Ian Crook fielded four players with senior experience, most notably left-back Adam Drury, working his way back to full fitness after a recurrence of his knee injury. Fresh from their travels to Birmingham at the weekend, midfield duo Korey Smith and Tom Adeyemi were paired in central midfield in a 4-3-3 formation, with the former captaining the side.

Luke Daley created the first chance of the match for City with just two minutes on the clock. Playing on the left of a three-pronged attack, Daley weaved his way into the box off his flank but struck his shot straight at Wroxham 'keeper Duncan McAnally.

On 12 minutes Cody McDonald forced McAnally into a low gather with a well-struck shot from the edge of the area, after striker Danny Kelly laid off George Francomb's pass into his path.

Neither goalkeeper was troubled until just after the half hour mark when the Wroxham stopper was at full stretch to deny McDonald. Tom Adeyemi set the former Dartford striker away down the right channel and he held off his marker before firing in a low shot that McAnally was equal to.

McAnally was again called upon to keep City at bay, this time parrying Luke Daley's shot from just inside the area.

Three minutes before the interval, Wroxham had their best chance of the half, Stephen Harley volleying straight at Stuart Nelson after an initial effort had been blocked by the City defence.

A minute later City took the lead courtesy of a Cody McDonald header. A deep cross from right-back Francomb was hung up perfectly for the striker to attack. McDonald rose above his marker and 'keeper McAnally who had come to claim, to head into an unguarded net.

Half-Time: City 1 Wroxham 0

Adam Drury showed his class four minutes into the second half, overlapping down the left and swinging in a delighful cross to the far post. Waiting was substitute Johnbull Omoregie, on for Damon Lathrope at half-time, to volley side-footed into the roof of the net past sub goalkeeper Phil Smith to double City's lead.

Just after the hour mark Cody McDonald doubled his and City's tally with a cool finish. The 22-year-old striker latched onto Francomb's ball over the Yachtsmen's defence, knocked the ball past Smith who had come out of his area and rolled the ball into the empty net on the slide. It was the striker's last involvement as Nick Davey came on to replace him.

The substitute was straight into the thick of the action, almost adding a fourth midway through the half, but slid his effort just wide of Phil Smith's right-hand post from captain Korey Smith's incisive pass.

Davey did make if four with eight minutes remaining, firing home from right-back Francomb's low centre. The sub took one touch to control after Francomb had surged into the box down the right and squared for Davey to beat Smith from 12 yards.

City came close to making it five with just two minutes remaining, Francomb's flag-kick from the left was met by a powerful header from David Stephens but sub Jacob McCabe was on hand to clear off the line. His clearance however fell straight to midfielder Tom Adeyemi who drove in a shot from just inside the area that Wroxham custodian Smith did well to parry to safety.
