CITY'S Reserves were in action this afternoon beating Northampton Town at Sixfields 3-1 in the Totesport.com Combination - East Division.
A single goal from Luke Daley and a brace from Jamie Cureton sealed the win for the Canaries who had to come back from a goal down - the home side having taken the lead after 26 minutes, when midfielderJoe Benjamin latched on to a Seb Harris pass and slotted the ball home.
But the Canaries were back on level terms just three minutes later when Daley tapped in a rebound off Cobblers' 'keeper Paul Walker who had made a good save from Cody McDonald.
The second half saw City coach Ian Crook introduce two substitutes including midfielder Owain Tudur Jones, who has been recovering from a calf strain picked up in the 4-1 Carling Cup defeat to Sunderland back in August.
Matt Gill also continued his return to action having been an injury-time substitute on Monday evening at Leeds - playing another 63 minutes today.
City had the first chance of the second half, Paul McVeigh shooting just over the Northampton bar on 47 minutes. But just after the hour-mark the Canaries did take the lead when McVeigh set up Cureton who placed a lovely 25-yard first-time volley into the left-hand corner of the goal.
The Cobblers continued to look for an equaliser, Tom McGowan forcing Michael Theoklitos into a good save to his left.
But Cureton made sure of the points with ten minutes to go, McDonald beating the offside trap and squaring for his strike partner to roll the ball home - the 34-year-old scoring his second brace in consecutive reserve appearances.
The Canaries were forced to play the last 10 minutes with 10 men, after McDonald got a knock to his knee with all their substitutions already used up, but the visitors held on for the victory.

Speaking after the game, Ian Crook said: "The result was decent, but I thought we looked a little flat first half - several of the lads having made the trip to Leeds on Monday night. But the second half was much better to get the second win in a week."
On Gill and Tudur Jones he commented: "They done well. A good 45 minutes for Owain and another 60 for Gilly giving them the opportunity to get back quicker to first team contention, so that's good for them."
