AN IMPRESSIVE second-half performance from a young Norwich City Reserve side saw them beat Northampton Town Reserves 3-0 at Colney.
Playing against the wind first half, few chances were created. The most notable for City the impressive Ryan Oakley having a fierce shot palmed away from 'keeper Chris Dunn after being played in by striker Patrick Drmola.
City stopper Declan Rudd was a virtual spectator for most of the match, fielding a deflected shot from Michael Jacobs shortly before the break after Mark Withers' cross from the left was headed clear by Remi Gordon.
Midfielder Tom Adeyemi broke the deadlock on the hour mark with a superb header from about 12 yards, from a Damon Lathrope cross, which crept inside the near post past the despairing dive of Dunn.
The lead was doubled on 70 minutes when Matt Ball slotted the ball into the corner. Gordon's cross from the left looking for Adeyemi was stabbed clear to the edge of the area but fell straight to Ball who opened his body and curled the ball past Dunn.
The win was sealed with eight minutes left with Ball's second of the game. A powerful driving run from Johnbull Osemwegie fed Drmola just outside the box and his shot was deflected into the path of Ball who sold the 'keeper a dummy and slotted the ball into the opposite corner.
