THE auction of charity shirts worn by the Canaries in their 2-1 victory over Doncaster has now closed, raising over £5,500 for local charity, The Benjamin Foundation.

A 10-day eBay auction was held, offering City supporters the chance to bid for signed shirts worn by the Norwich City team on October 25.

The auction proved to be a huge success, with match-winner Leroy Lita's shirt going for £880 and an unworn shirt signed by the entire Canary squad raising £400. All proceeds from the auction will go towards The Benjamin Foundation, the charity which Aviva kindly allowed to take their logo's place on the shirts worn on the day. A cheque will be handed to The Benjamin Foundation at this Saturday's game with Swansea City.

The Norfolk charity won this special opportunity opened to local charities by Aviva and the Eastern Daily Press through their Community Chest Challenge.  The Benjamin Foundation provides a diverse range of services and opportunities for children and young people and the homeless in Norfolk. Their aim is to provide high quality services and opportunities that significantly improve the lives of children and young people.

Founder of The Benjamin Foundation Richard Draper said: "The total of over £5,500 is a fantastic amount of money and will really help us develop new services. We are extremely grateful to everyone who contributed, the community of football supporters and those behind the scenes at Aviva and the Football Club who have helped The Benjamin Foundation."

Brand Marketing Manager for Norwich City, Will Hoy told First News: "It's great to know that so many Canary supporters bid for the shirts and made the auction such a success. All the money raised goes to a really worthwhile cause which does a brilliant job in the local area so I'm really looking forward to handing the cheque over to The Benjamin Foundation."
