TWO successful projects are currently running in the Club's Study Centre. The Norfolk County Council assisted educational venue is based within Carrow Road's Aviva Community Stand and aims to support students of all ages and abilities to engage in learning in the more unusual but motivating setting of the football stadium.

With the help of course leader Nicky Bennett and Ian Hill from Football in the Community, students from various schools and other educational establishments in Norwich have been participating in a variety of sports and activities such as raft building, sailing, skiing, pool, kick boxing and weekly football sessions at Carrow Park. By completing a portfolio of evidence, including diary sheets, photos and records of progression they will eventually achieve an ASDAN (Award Scheme Development & Accreditation Network) Sports & Fitness Award at the beginning of July.

As part of their activities the students have enjoyed a successful trip to the Colney Training Centre, where they were given a tour of the facilities and discussed sports-related injuries with Norwich City's Performance Analyst Liam Weeks.

Nicky Bennett, a tutor at the centre, is thrilled with the student's progress. "Attendance is good with students demonstrating improving enthusiasm and team work abilities," she said. "The lads taking part are great characters and have made a lot of progress during their time with us. They are great fun and my best days of the week are getting to work with them!"

The Playing for Success scheme has been a successful feature of the Study Centre now for about 10 years. The aim is to help support under-achieving students to increase levels of attainment in literacy, numeracy and ICT, and to increase motivation, confidence, self-esteem and independent learning though working in an inspirational environment outside school.

This term children have been given the challenge to design their own restaurant. After enjoying tours of both Delia's and Yellows at Carrow Road, the children split into groups and following some research have developed their own restaurant concepts and themes, including logos and menus. This work will continue throughout the summer term with presentations in the first week of July.
