CITY'S Academy is joining the Club's Study Centre to support the National Literacy Trust and in turn local children.

Academy scholars have recently visited local libraries to tell stories, riddles and personal stories to hundreds of youngsters - the aim to encourage children and their parents to tell, more importantly to write stories and also get involved with the 'City Til' I Die' project.

The initiative is looking to publish a new book, which will reflect the memories and experiences of supporters both young and old. 600 free copies of 'City Til' I Die' will be distributed to local schools, libraries and community groups, as well as going on sale in the Canary Store.

Last week City youngsters Johnbull Osemwegie, Sam Habergham, Tyree Clarke and George Francomb attended Earlham Library on Colman Road in Norwich with professional storyteller Pat Ryan to tell stories to 170 kids from St. Thomas More Junior School.

Johnbull and Sam also joined fellow players Josh Dawkin and David Stephens to visit Hellesdon Library on Middletons Lane to meet 150 children from Kinsale Junior School.

Speaking about the initiative Study Centre Tutor Ros Watson said: "These activities have benefited both the children and the players in terms of confidence building and literacy skills.

"We are grateful to the Academy and all those involved in this project and hope it encourages more families to participate in the City Til' I Die' book and with storytelling generally."
