FOOTBALL-SUPPORTING FIRM JOINS CAMPAIGN

Posted on: Tue 17 Nov 2009

A LOCAL connection has led Hain Frozen Foods, 'The home of Linda McCartney' to become involved with Norwich City for the first time and join the We're backing City campaign.

The Fakenham-based food production company, part of the Hain Celestial Group, have decided to sponsor former Fakenham High School pupil and current City midfielder Matt Gill for the rest of the season.

They predominantly produce the Linda McCartney range of frozen ready meals at their Norfolk plant and support local grass roots football as Fakenham Town Football Club's main sponsor. The company have also been recent finalists in two categories in this year's EDP Business Awards; Finalist in the Environment and Sustainability Award and runner-up in Business of the Year Award.

David Matwij, Head of Operations from Hain Frozen Foods, commented: "We are delighted to have the opportunity to get the business involved with the Norwich community in this way, and are looking forward to a successful season, which will hopefully see Norwich City get promoted."

Will Hoy, Head of Sales and Marketing at Norwich City added: "This is a great local tie-up and our thanks go to Hain Frozen Foods. Matt was born in Norfolk, went to Fakenham High School and has now returned to play for us.

"Hain Frozen Foods stepped in to sponsor him and with their Fakenham links this is something we were delighted to put together. We hope they enjoy the benefits of Matt's kit sponsorship throughout the season."

The 'We're Backing City' campaign was launched at the beginning of July, with the Club working hard with all of its business partners, clients and suppliers to see if they can identify pro-active ways they can help during this challenging time for Norwich City.

Main Club sponsors Aviva kicked off the initiative by agreeing to extend their sponsorship of the Canaries to a fourth year and taking on sponsorship of the Geoffrey Watling City Stand.

Other partners of the Club are following suit by negotiating new deals, re-negotiating existing deals and exploring ways to help the Canaries cut their costs.

Any companies who are able to support the initiative will be able to use the 'We're Backing City' logo in their publicity material.
