CITY completed the loan signing of left-back Mitchell Dijks from Dutch giants Ajax in January 2017.
Born in Purmerend in the Netherlands in 1993, Dijks joined the youth ranks of FC Volendam in 2009 – with the club being a partner of Ajax’s at the time.
Representing the Ajax A1 youth squad in 2011-12, he helped the side win the Nike Eredivisie league title in addition to finishing as runners-up to Inter Milan in the NextGen series.
His first team debut for Ajax came in August 2012 against PSV in the Johan Cruyff Shield before making his league bow for the club later the same month against NEC.
Dijks made a total of six league appearances during the 2012-13 campaign, helping his side clinch their 32nd Dutch league title.
He spent the following season on loan at Heerenveen, making 24 league appearances before penning a permanent deal at Willem II.
After a single season with Willem II, Dijks returned to Ajax where he has featured 12 times in the league this term as well as a further three times in the Europa League.
Having represented the Netherlands at various youth levels up to Under-21s, the 23-year-old earned his maiden call-up to the senior squad in March 2016 for the friendly fixtures against France and England.
