Midfielder speaks ahead of Stoke City game

JONNY Howson is enjoying the ‘buzz’ of being part of the Canaries squad again after returning from two-and-a-half months out with a back injury against Aston Villa on Sunday.

The influential midfielder came on for the last ten minutes to make his comeback, and is very grateful for the chance to play a part in the final ten games of the season.

“I got that buzz first when I was back on the bench against Tottenham – you don’t have that same feeling when you’re not involved,” said Howson when speaking exclusively to Norwich City TV.

“When you want to do something that you love and enjoy doing, and it is taken away and you’re told to stop, it obviously affects you. Looking back now though, it seems to have gone quicker than I felt it did.”

Howson is fit and available for selection for this Saturday’s match against Stoke City – a team against whom he scored the winning goal at the reverse fixture back in September.

“It seems a long time ago now! From what I remember I got a bit of space and the defenders didn’t come forward, so I tried my luck,” added Howson, whose other strike this season came against Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium.

“Watching it back the ‘keeper maybe should have done better, but from the team’s and a personal point of view you take those.”

On this weekend’s encounter, he commented: “I think for the majority of the season the home form has been good.

“At home we feel we’re a match for any side, and the Stoke game is going to be no different.”
